In partnership with DMG Blockchain, self-described multinational semiconducter company Bitmain has announced the launch of a new cryptocurrency mining farm – built in Rockdale, Texas, U.S.A.
The farm, which began construction in 2018, has also been built in association with the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD). It will start at a 50MW mining capacity – which can expand to over 300MW, if needed.

In its official statement, Bitmain claims that the facility will be built upon a 33,000 acre site, which is owned by the Aluminum Company of America, ‘Alcoa’. It has additionally supposed to have been completed “using a newly developed design patent” .
DMG is to provide “hosting and management services” for the facility which is, according to Bitmain, the third of such US-based mining sites to have been invested in by the company. Essentially DMG will manage and operate the mining facility in Rockdale.
Furthermore, Bitmain states that it will be purchasing energy directly from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which operates the electric grid in Rockdale, Texas.

Bitmain is a company which advertises its product offerings as: chips, servers, cloud solutions for blockchain and AI applications.
Despite this, the company is probably best known for its commercial cryptocurrency mining hardware – primarily the ‘Antminer’ devices. Two new models in the ‘Antminer 17’ series were announced in early October, which have since been listed on the Bitmain website.
